Funding and Financial Support for Paramedic Courses

Funding for an Access to HE Diploma and funding for a later Paramedic Science degree are different stages. Plan the cost of each stage separately and use the current official guidance for the course and academic year you intend to start.
Funding the Access to HE stage

Funding at the university degree stage
To use the protected title paramedic, you need to complete an HCPC-approved qualifying programme and meet the registration requirements. A Paramedic Science degree may have different financial support arrangements from an Access course, including student finance and, where the conditions are met, NHS support.
The NHS Learning Support Fund 2026/27 guidance includes paramedicine at the eligible pre-registration degree stage. It applies only where all current scheme conditions are met, including the course, provider, residence, student-finance and active-study conditions. Check the guidance again for your entry year because funding rules can change.
Student finance is separate from the NHS Learning Support Fund. Use GOV.UK student finance guidance to check the support available for your country of residence and intended course. A university's funding team can explain how its course, placements and academic calendar affect its own processes.
