What helps applicants shine at interview for health professional courses?

What qualities or skills do you feel make applicants stand out most during interviews for health professional courses at your university?

The advice I would give to someone preparing for an interview for a health professional course is to research the profession you have applied for, have a look at the health professional bodies and regulatory bodies websites, to have an understanding of the breadth and depth of the profession and what a day in the life of the profession may involve, prepare answers that demonstrate examples of your transferable skills. It's also important to be punctual and if the interview is online to check your technology and ensure you have your camera on as it's a professional body requirement for us to see you in order to check your ID. If you are unable to attend the interview then please let the university know. It's also good to have a question prepared ready to ask the interviewer to show your interest in the profession and university. You should also look professional, think about your body language, look interested and engaged, and if a group interview is involved think about your role and the balance of being engaged and also being an active listener.

Thank you, it really highlights that the interview isn’t just about answering questions – it’s about showing professionalism from start to finish. Doing the research, being prepared with examples, asking thoughtful questions, and even the small things like punctuality, body language, and engagement can make a big difference in how an applicant is perceived.
