NHS Learning Support Fund (LSF)
If you're enrolled on an undergraduate course listed below, and you're commencing and continuing your study after 1 September 2020, you may apply for NHS LSF:
- nursing (adult, child, mental health, learning disability, joint nursing, and social work)
- midwifery
- dental therapy or dental hygiene
- occupational therapy
- dietetics
- physiotherapy
- radiography (diagnostic and therapeutic)
- operating department practitioner
- speech and language therapy
- podiatry
If you're eligible, you can get:
- a training grant of £5,000 per academic year
- £2,000 in parental support if you have at least one dependant child under the age of 15 or under the age of 17 if they are registered as having special educational needs
- reimbursement for excess travel and short-term lodging expenses (Travel and Dual Accommodation Expenses) incurred during your practise placement
- students that are struggling financially (Exceptional Support Fund)
The NHS LSF provides additional funding for eligible healthcare students. It is designed to support students while they train and obtain professional registration and is an additional source of funding to the traditional student loan system.
