Moderation is a key quality assurance process that ensures consistency, fairness, and academic integrity in the assessment of your work throughout the Access to Higher Education (HE) Diploma.
There are two types of moderation:
- Internal Moderation: At Academy Online Learning, we carry out regular internal moderation. This involves a team of experienced staff reviewing assessments and grading across different courses to ensure that QAA (Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education) standards are consistently met. Internal moderation ensures that your assignments are marked fairly, accurately, and consistently, maintaining the integrity of your academic record.
- External Moderation: Our awarding organisation, Skills and Education Group Access, carries out external moderation. This independent review confirms that grading decisions made by Academy Online Learning are reliable and meet national standards. External moderators assess samples of student work, ensure compliance with QAA regulations, and validate the overall quality of assessment decisions.
External moderation culminates in the Final Awards Board meeting, where student achievements are formally confirmed. Following this process, successful students are awarded their Access to HE Diploma certificates.
Moderation plays an essential role in maintaining the value and recognition of your qualification, ensuring that all students are treated equitably and that academic standards are upheld.
At Academy Online Learning, our commitment to rigorous moderation processes ensures you can trust the fairness and quality of your educational achievements.
