To embark on a career in Health Studies, you typically need a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in Health Studies or a related field, which this Access to Higher Education course at level 3 enables you to apply to university. After earning your degree, various career paths are available, including roles in public health, health education, and healthcare management. Degree programs often span three to four years and include significant hands-on learning opportunities in various health settings.


What are the university entry requirements for a health studies degree?

To apply to universities for Health Studies, you should have, or be working towards, a relevant Access to HE Diploma in Health Science. Alternatively, achieving 3 A Levels, including one in a science area (such as Human Biology, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Psychology, Sociology, Geography, or Maths), is also common. Universities can provide specific entry requirements, which they publish on the UCAS website.


With the A Level route, you may also need a minimum of 5 GCSEs. For the Access to HE Diploma route, typically only 2 GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade C or above are required. Access to HE Diplomas are aimed at adults aged 18+ returning to education or changing careers, with no upper age limits. The Diploma is considered equivalent to 3 A Levels and can be studied from home via online study with Academy Online Learning.
